Propellerhead Reason Music RNS

Here's a bit of an experimental thing going on. I basicaly arranged this song with using alot of Matrix patterns sequencers. While I was doing this, I focussed mostly on automation... some more edit automation... and alot of edit automation...

So in the end, this song became more or less a mix more or less then just being a musical file. Which is a total different aproach for me.

Ok, it has been a while that I actually made a song file public. Since I feel like being one of the few people that actually hosts full blown reason 4 rns files. I had my problems in the past with sharing my toys. But I feel like I am kind of over that part by now.

But anyways. I felt like sharing this 'happy' house moment. Since I am totally in the mood for something really funky and ehm.. happy. Have fun with this song.

And yeah, sorry about the lack of attention on this section. I had my share on the forumboard lately, and I am not really happy with the outcome on that part. So one might find me adding stuff here again more often.

Since the time has passed right now... I feel like posting the RNS file as the final entry I have submitted so far. Since the deadline has passed, there are no new entries comming. It feels a bit more 'safe' to post the file as I have made it.

The file in general is a bit larger then the avarage reason song I have made so far. Since this one comes with a stack of acapellas that were a part of the original. The deal was simple... take an original song, and remix it.

The orignal post on how I 'kind' of started with this whole thing I have posted inside a single blog entry quite a while ago (the 4th of march to be exact). As the original as I started was missing some stuff, I have re-arranged most of it, and turned it into something a little bit different.

At least, the basis of the track remains the same, yet I have done a lot of tweaking to some sound effects, instruments and some of the breakcore drumming. Anyways, I think I will wrap this one up, and post it here, and on youtube as well... for what it is worth.

SevenFixAngel - Baby dont hurt me (nonstop2k March 2009 Competition entry)

Here's an early buid house track I made during the day. Yeah, I am sometimes a bit 'over' productive. This song is slower then the usual stuff I produce. But it felt like "fun" to create something more groovey like and slow tempo based.

The complexity lies more in the amount of sounds I use in side this track. At least, it started initially as a showcase of all kinds of different effects. Add a bunch of drumtracks to the whole deal, combined with a crap of reverbs, stereo seperation techniques... you name it... the works.

It feels like something one might throw in a dance club... yet it has a strange 'ring' to it though ;)

Time for something more classic this time. After my previous outburst (read... blog entry) I needed to get things written down in a different way. Music wise! Works like a charm hehe...

Anyways, one will NOT find this one file on ReasonStation, since I simply refuse it to post it there. Let me just go 'exclusive' on this part. Since I have a feeling that I personally, by far, distinct myself from a lot of people on there. Yeah, getting ignorant is my middle name right now. Since it just feels like being stepped on by a bug that doesn't even know what he is talking about.

But on the otherhand. It does feel good to blow of some steam from time to time and make an awesome track in the process... Really, people should piss me off more often so I write better songs ;)

Fresh from the 'reason rack'... here's another trance production I have been working on during the afternoon, evening, and night. Even though I have been 'sleeping' in between. The title might sound a bit odd by now... since, at this point that I actually want to sleep... I simply cant.

So, I have been hammering on this tune like a madman on the last 2 hours now, and it sounds like it is almost complete right now. However, I do have a feeling I will want to re-review this song the next day. Since usually I have a set of ears during this mixdown, and tomorrow I will probably have a whole different thought on this one.

But still, I felt the need to share this moment already with you guys. So here it is, fresh from the harddisk ;)

Here goes again. Another 'straight' (caugh!) forward house track

Inspiration is mainly marcel woods on this one.. and some left-overs from the trance scene. In this song I am doing a lot of effects inside of reason combined with some very 'easy' to remember melody parts (which is rather common inside the house scene). I did want to use some vocals from Command and Conquer Generals (hence the title of the song), but for some reason the recording did constantly mess up... So I think I could do without any of those.

There are no refills used for this track, and all samples are included.

Amen... Breaks...

That is the first 2 words I want to start of with. This song has a lot of them... And as I have also posted this one somewhere else, it didn't get the amount of attention as I was hoping for... So, here goes (you might have seen this file before, but that won't be a surprise to me since it is now 3 days old by now).

Here's an experimental song I have been working on during the 'start' of this weekend. It feels like spring right now, since the sun has been shining all day. And nothing beats having the laptop on the balcony and make music while you are at it.

The song I have been working on is very experimental and is more close to something ambient in some form. Even while I have used a couple of influences from the shooter games (such as Gradius, aka nemesis series). It starts of as a pretty stable track. But in the ending I am more making it a 'technical' thing rather then being a piece of music in some way.

At least, there is so much stuff going on inside this track, it will take me decades to explain everything. But in short, its all about the bunch of effects that I apply to all the instruments out there. And there is alot of stuff going on in here. That is one thing for sure.

Something you probably won't see me doing on a daily basis.

As the title might be experimental stuff, I am also throwing in a new experiment here. There is this one 'bigger' community out there that deals with uploading Reason song files, and reason download files (RNS, RPS and MP3 format). I just want to check how many times it gets downloaded from here, and from that other site. Just to see how much 'exposure' it would get me.

By judging about the numbers I have seen on there already from other users, there is none what so ever. But then again, only time will tell.

This song requires another explination... So here goes ;)

nonstop2k Contest.

that is the topic which I am going to refer to right now. And the story behind this whole topic is gonna be simple. I competed in this competitiion with this entry right now. As far I can tell, I personally don't really care what the outcome is going to be like. The only part that people will probably comment on: "it will lack of an autro".

The only reason behind this is, I really didn't have the time to make one. So I went for a sudden stop "method". Just break it down a little, and poof..

On the other hand, this single entry has been keeping me busy through out the week.And most of the stuff has been made while doing my daily train trips from and too work. Really.. One of these days someone will step to me in the train and ask me "hey aren't you the guy that posts all those reason videos".. since I am (probably) the only person that actually sits in the train making music inside Reason

I personally find it just really relaxing and also being productive... how wrong can you get with that combination.

Anyways, the whole idea behind the remix probably goes very long. The short version would be: take the original track, combine it with some other elements like "drum and Bass", "modern house beats", "just a little bit of goa sounds", "stack a whole bunch of effects on eachother" (really, the final mix has 4 14:2 mixer panels, I never done that one before ;)). "make it sound harmonic" (eg, thats where the guitars come in), "layer the sounds" (there are some sounds that constantly play the same lead, but are layered in and out).. and ofcourse, build the sounds from the ground up again.

Last but not least, you really don't mess with the udu inside this track ;) Udu rocks!
