Complete music albums made in propellerhead Reason

Unreal 2009

Unreal 2009 Unreal 2009 Music Album made by Hydlide. This is the follow up on the Unreal 2006 music album I made in that specific year. Here's the long delayed music album that I have been working on in the period of august and september. The unreal 2009 music album is complete fictional at this point. But there is going to be a nice spinoff with this music album on which I can not comment on at this moment. The idea behind this music album is to look back at the original music pieces that were made in the game Unreal Tournament The Game of the year edition made in 1999.

The songs that I have been workiing on are some classic drum and bass tracks, or some orchestral pieces with some drum and bass influences. This album is perhaps a bit 'progressive' from time to time. But the main goal was simple: make music that fits inside the game Unreal Tournament and I personally think I made that happen.

Pushing the limit

Pushing the limit Pushing the limit - a progressive trance music album

Pushing the limit is my latest music album and will be released on the 28th of july 2008. This whole music album has taken me almost 3 months to complete after having a period of being none productive inside the music scene. While the main stream of this music album is more or less progressive trance, I have also tried to blend multiple genres in each other, such as club house, techno or straight forward house. Yet, trance music is probably the main stream of this complete music album.

Created using Propellerhead Reason 4

This music album has been created using the latest version of Propellerheads reason, Reason version 4. And the main goal was to make the songs as complete as possible and even go beyond where I left off with my previous creation: reason before reason. With this music album I am pushing the limit inside of reason... instrumental wise. Since most instruments I have been using inside this music collection you will not find inside any of the patches of propellerhead reason, nor refills... since I haven't used any ;)

Most instruments are based on initialized patched, using devices like the subtractor, thor and the malstrom graintable synthesizer. The only way I shape the instruments is by using all kind of effect processors such as the RV7000, the scream 4 sound destruction unit and the Phaser unit.

How do I create this music?

This album also kind of started with a offspin. I was 'tired' of creating music and could not find the right angle after creating my latest music album (reason b4 reason). After being non productive for 2 months, I started to focus more on the tutorials about propellerhead reason, which I already created on this website. I expanded my tutorials to stuff like youtube, and I got so many feedback from other users that I started a new series of tutorials about 'how to create a song'. These series made the musical vibe come back again. And most of the productions I have placed inside the album are spinoffs from those tutorials, which have been totally rewriten, remixed and remastered inside of propellerhead reason 4.

Anyways, I have gained a bit more experience on creating music. Now the time will come to start focussing on Patches for Propellerhead reason 4.

Reason B4 Reason

Reason B4 Reason Reason Before Reason - a progressive trance music album

This new music album will be launched on 16th of december. Reason B4 Reason (aka Reason before Reason) will be a complete new production build up from scratch. Which started with a default mixer panel, and adding devices and creating bandnew sequences (using a midi keyboard).

Propellerhead Reason 4

With using the latest version of Propellerheads Reason, Reason 4. I am creating a full scale music using all the new gizmo's and old devices from Reason 4. New to the setup is the Polysonic Synthesizer Thor, where I have been creating a lot of new homemade custom patches for this music album from the ground up. Also the combinator, the NN-XT sampler are back in these productions as well to create these real full instrumental sessions. The malstrom is back in this production as well, which is now for the purpose to support thor. And offcourse the subtractor being my favorite device for creating basslines.

A progressive trance music album

This complete music album contains 16 new tracks made from scratch. Eg, I just started with an empty rack, parked a device in there and started making noiz out of this single device. As this album is more a quality album, not a quantity album, I am looking back at this music album that will satisfy my personal.

With having solid trance tracks in here like Tropical, Closer, Break the melody down and the rhythm. I sometimes go back to my roots: the music of WipeOut. With having songs like Sex is the Way and Throw everything at them this just got back that good old WipeOut feeling. Not only am I creating solid trance tracks in this music album. I sometimes screw around with music. Like "Live from the keyboard". Which actually came from playing on the keyboard and the song called Swell...

I had much fun creating this music album, and this will only be the beginning of new things to come. I wish you lots of fun with my latest creation:
Reason before Reason.

The Malstrom is my Bitch

The Malstrom is my Bitch a music album created in propellerhead reason 3 using mostly the malstrom graintable synth

The malstrom is my bitch is a technical music album, where I use a single device as most of the leads either drums, either enviroment. This device is called the Malstrom graintable synthesizer and with this device I can create some wicked sounds either sound effects. In most cases I still use a couple of other devices from propellerhead Reason 3. The real big excpetion is a song called 100 percent, which is based on 100% pure malstroms.

This music album came as a response to the upcomming new version of Propellerhead Reason, Reason 4. Where they announced a new device called Thor, the polysonic synthesizer. Where I personally haven't gotten everything out of the malstrom yet, I still think that the malstrom graintable synthesizer is still one of the better synths that come with reason. Especially the granual way of thinking I find intriguing.

This music album was also a bit of an experiment. Since I used a couple of different techniques, by creating complexed combinator patches which are rewired with all kinds of cv merges and splitters. Another thing that was new is that some parts of these music tracks are recorded live (at least parts of them are). I am using a radium 49 midi keyboard for these live performances and it does just that what I want to do.

Anyways, this new music album will probably my last full scale reason 3 production. After this music album I am going to use propellerhead Reason 4. Have fun with my latest music creation: the malstrom is my bitch

watch the fucking bassline

watch the fucking bassline Heavy techno music album made by Dj Hydlide

Watch the fucking bassline is the working title of this new Heavy techno music album. While progressing with in propellerhead reason I have learned never to cross the zero DB level when making music. However, since most people scream for heavy basses, and really don't care about 'technical' perfection, I have created a set of techno songs that are not technicaly perfect, but sound as the people want them to sound.

The main stream for this album is heavy basslines, and really low basslines (lets say about 40Hz ;)).

Dancing to the Rhythm

Dancing to the Rhythm another progressive trance album Welcome to another progressive trance album. Dancing to the rhythm is an album where I put most of the time into re-mastering my songs. With most songs I made in the past, I never used re-mastering methods to begin with. I only wrote the song and that was basicly it. While re-mastering is a complete new experience for me, I am still a bit new to this method of making music.

Most of the songs where already present in the download section of my portal site, yet.. these songs are all remixed, remastered and might sound a bit different then the originals (with the exception of 'I wanna groove with you').

With this progressive album I also tried some new tricks while composing the drums. I am beginning to have an affection for chemical beats all of a sudden, and that will show during most of this album. I also tried to get rid of the 'standard' saw sounds and re-tune them while progressing. I still prefer to use saw waves for the main drive since they sound almost harmonic in every piece i write.

Let's do it Analogue

Let's do it Analogue a techno album based on analogue synthesizers

Let's do it Analogue might give you some idea on what this music album is all about. At least, most the tracks that are compiled for this piece of art are based on most commonly known as analogue synthesizers. To roughen up the tracks a bit I used a lot of different drum techniques to make it sound like a new fresh breeze in the techno scene.

Why analogue?

Analogue sounds are the basics of all synthesizers. And I wanted to go to the 'roots' of digital music making.I have built all kinds of different analogue synthesizers from square, to saw, to triangle sounds... it's that simple.. But... To make it catchy, I done a couple of modifications to some of the analogue sounds settings. Like adding different effects processors like distortion, fuzz, reverbs you name it... In general it has its own 'typical' sound.

Here comes the summer

Here comes the summer A compilation album released in... the summer As you might know I never sit still. And I am proud to present another progressive trance album "Here comes the summer". With the comming of the summer, I wanted to give trance a nice and warm summer feeling. The following tracks have a certain 'groovy' and 'happy' vibe in them, while others are pretty straight forward and pretty agressive trance pieces.

In most cases I have done alot of work on making an unique drumtrack. Combined the song with some experimental sound effects, sphere's and different instruments in the progress.

With the album "Flatout 2006" I tried to focus more on different mastering techniques, and with this album I used some of the same techniques and perfected them. However, some of the sounds of Flatout 2006 have returned and have been modified a little bit. But in most cases it is the complete arrangement that counts.

I submitted most of the songs on my own homepage, and added a few new tracks to make the album more complete. Also I did remix a couple of pieces to make them sound just a little bit better.

I had a lot of fun scrambling this album together, and I hope you enjoy these music pieces, as much as I loved to create them

RPG Soundtrack

RPG Soundtrack An orchestral album with a setup that could be used in RPG Games Every arrangement I have made for the RPG Soundtrack contains a certain setting that I wanted to represent in music. Sometimes I went for a full orchestral arrangement to set the sphere right, in other pieces I used a whole bunch of different sound effects to represent the right sphere. Like I already said in the disclaimer, all these music pieces are not from an existing RPG game.

Hydlides Symphonies

Hydlides Symphonies Characteristic music pieces

For most arrangements I tried to setup a complete orchestral setup. Sometimes combined with modern syntesizers, and sometimes with the combinations of modern drums. In these cases, my goal was to send a fresh wind into 'classical' arrangements.

In most cases I used setups like, a copper set (trumpets, tuba's, trombone), a wooden set (eg. flute, clarinet, oboe), and offcourse the strings (violin, viola, contrabass) to set a certain 'characteristic' in the song. You could maybe also compare it a little bit with the Merregnon project. But the big difference I think would be, I am just using a computer to generate these symphonies.. not a complete orchestra!

The Jenova Project

The Jenova Project The Jenova project are modern mixed versions of the Final Fantasy 7 songs The Jenova Project

Hence this is still work in progress i can't give full details about this project. The only thing I do can say is that this project will contain all kinds of re-arranged soundtracks of Final Fantasy 7. With in mind changing the all over sphere of the song.

Most pieces off final fantasy where more orchestral arrangements. I will make sure you won't find much of those back in this project. For that I already did the whole remake project.

Flatout 2006

Flatout 2006 My first progressive trance album. Flatout 2006

This is my first progressive trance album in which i done some expirementing with different editing techniques. With this new album, I started a whole new meaning of remastering my audio tracks. First i started to experimental a bit with using spectrum analyzers. With this technique i could make sounds more full, and make the track sound different then any track i have made in the past. Sometimes by making the bass more lower, or making the sounds more high pitched. The song "spectrum" is a nice track which explains this method the best.

With some tracks i done some experimenting on the percussions, adding extra effects so it would sound like your basic trance experience. Radium, Robotix, Strange Voyage and midnight are some tracks which i used different 'strange' drum effects in.

"here comes the spring", "let the sun shine" and "throw your hands up" are most likely the more 'common' type of trance songs, while "massive attack" has a whole different meaning to the 'trance scenery'

With this album i also tried to bring back life to the old 'TB-303' sounds like common used in a program like 'Rebirth'. "Happy Hour", "Autro" and "Strange Voyage" are a few titles that contain those nice squeky sounds or used for the real low bass effects. Which I am quite fond off.

Last but not least, there's only one 'real' piano tune on this album.. and is also the 'weird' piece on this album. "Tinkerbell" was in first a song i did not want on this album because it did not really fit here. On the other hand, I choose to put it on the album because it might also change the sphere a bit on this album.

Anyways, I had lots of fun with creating this album. So enjoy!

Unreal

Unreal Complete album composed by Hydlide Unreal

This whole title came to life when I was playing Unreal Tournament alot. While playing I listened to the kind of music they used in the game, and that gave me a lot off new stuff to work with.

The whole Unreal serie I came up with has some drum and bass elements, most commonly they are at a high beat rate [around 147 - 155 BPM] , a little bit of trance influences [like building up and braking down] and that all combined with a whole bunch of filtering techniques.

The sphere in most pieces on this album is slightly the same [more aggressive due to the high speeds], however it does have some other sphere settings. For instance I tried to set something up like a peacefull enviroment combined with a high and uptempo kinda of song [eg Unreal part 4 and Unreal Part 8].

What I also tried to do from time to time was make it really agressive without going to make something like hardhouse, or hardcore.. but just more like drum and bass... Unreal part 5, part 9 and part 10 are the best results of that trend.

In the beginning of Part 10 you might notice a sound effect I more often used during the whole album. I got really fond of using 'low chops' troughout the music pieces to set the sphere of this album right. You can also see that as the "red wire" throughout this whole journey.

Anyways... Enough talk...

Enjoy!

WW2 Documentary Songs

WW2 Documentary Songs Songs that I made for an unreleased documentary Like said, I had once this big plan to make a full scale documentary using BF1942 as the main 'footage'. Because of a couple of reasons, I did cancel the project for the time being (yet I do still have most of the original project files on my harddrive).

The big issue with this documentary was its complexity, its size and the limitations with using Battlefield 1942 and a single person to record it and setup the scenes. Also because of lack of time and interest I therefor called this project 'dead' like 2 months ago. Still, I have some decent sound tracks made especially for this movie, and in this section you can find these songs.
