Real Instrumental Processing in Reason 4

Real Instrumental Processing in Reason 4 Here is a minor bit of a tutorial about making real instrumental approaches. The problem with real instruments is that you have to have heard them, otherwise you can't make a conclusion about what an instrument would sound like. This is also a bit of a tricky part that comes along with it. Since alot of people will make an accusation that it does not sound real, or it does not come close to the real deal. Synths (eg: the subtractor, malstrom and thor) are pretty powerfull stuff to create synthetic sounds, however... that is what they are. The synths are fake. Thus creating real sounds isn't usefull at that. However... one could always use a synth for a backup to make the sound itself a bit more 'unreal', while still having a real sound on top of it. It sounds cheap, but the only way you ...

Propellerhead Reason 4 - A Patch a Day

Basic Kickdrum Template

Basic Kickdrum Template What makes a good kickdrum? How did you make that kick?! That kick is awesome! These are the questions I often get from many videos i post on Youtube. Ok, with the exceptional 'Your sound is weak' comments, but I'll not get into that. The point is, there is no real definition of a "good" kickdrum. The problem with kickdrums (and I am talking about the main electro genres like House, techno, Trance etc) is that the kick itself is actually nothing. If you do it right, then you should make a kick drum that fits inside the song (and not the otherway around). Most people don't understand that, that is probably why I can make a good kickdrums, and other people don't (yeah, mister cocksucker at your service right here ;)).The problem with the drum itself is that it is often based on a ...

Propellerhead Reason 4 Tutorial

Mp3 files and Reason

Mp3 files and Reason A topic that I often see floating by... Can I import Mp3 files inside reason, or can I make an export to Mp3 from my current Reason song. I feel the need to write down this small article as in 'a tutorial' just to explain the parts that one can do.First question: can I load mp3 files inside Reason? No!Second question: can I export the song as an Mp3 file? No!However... Reason native 'language' is either Wav files or AIFF files. AIFF files are more MAC related, and WAV files are the Windows veriant. The difference between the AIFF/WAV and MP3 is that the first is uncompressed (more clearer) yet MP3 is compressed, thus smaller but with (sound) artifacts. This depends on the way the MP3 files are compressed (often known as bitrate). 320kbit/s is almost as good as a WAV files 44.1Khz 16 bit ...

News about the Sound of Reason - the Propellerhead Reason tutorial site

My Old Server died

My Old Server died Last 48 hours things have been going pretty wrong. Eventually it all started with a upgrade on software level, yet at the same time the old server died while doing it. In the last 48 hours this website has been plagued with server crashes, stuff not working, and random 'status' pages where some dude called Hydlide said some stuff about what he was trying to do.To bring you up to speed with it, ...

Chirping Lead (Electro House)

Chirping Lead (Electro House)

Chirping Lead (Electro House) Today I am posting a lead which I have been using inside on of my own Electro House songs. The sound is pretty sharp, and solid and jumps right out inside the song I made back then. But then again, it is a patch. One may find different tweaks to make it sound different again. The main automation I did with the original track was based on the Filter frequency and the Decay. Since these were ...

Sound Effect Test case

Sound Effect Test case

Sound Effect Test case Here's more or less an experimental thingy rather then being a patch of its own. I am trying to create a dynamic sound effect and make it move through the brain at the same time.

I hope it kind of works. Basic idea is that it should to the right and then later on more to the back right.
